In what is being described as one of the most dastardly acts in recent history, the activities of one man on a rampant shooting spree has cost the lives of at least 49 innocent individuals in New Zealand.
The man opened fire on two mosques during peak hours in Christchurch on Friday, which also meant that the mosques were full of worshippers at the time.
Ever since then, tributes and stories have been filling our social media handles, and everyone around the world seems to be mourning the loss of innocent lives.
Some believe that Islamophobia may be responsible for the tragedy which has struck New Zealand. For instance, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the “islamophobia” which has spread like wild fire since 9/11 is the main cause behind the attack.
An Australian senator, Fraser Anning, has also drawn a lot of flak online for commenting that the new immigration policies of New Zealand triggered the attack.
However, amidst all this chaos and confusion, a new hashtag began trending on Twitter – #PeacefulMosques. Here, people are sharing beautiful, everyday stories from their mosques, which are sure to melt your heart.
Since several news networks emphasize that the mosques at the Christchurch shootings were #PeacefulMosques, as if most aren't:

The door to exit the Musallah to the shoe room is really small so people keep trying to enter at the same time and bang into each other. Every time this happens, people laugh and half hug each other, which makes getting out take even longer.

We hire security guards during Ramadan and have cops here every Friday. Over time, they just became part of our community. When we break fast, folks will take plates of food out to them and sit and eat with them, since they're usually missing dinner with their own families.
