Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Ananya Pandey starrer Student Of The Year 2 opened to mixed reviews from the audience and critics this Friday. But the film fared well at the box office and became Tiger’s second highest opener till date.
Debut movie of Tara and Ananya is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The film collected ₹12.06 crores on its opening day which is this year’s fifth highest first-day collection after Kalank, Kesari, Gully Boy, and Total Dhamaal.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the film’s first-day collection and wrote, “#StudentOfTheYear2 puts up a fairly good total on Day 1… Biz slowed down towards evening shows… Sat and Sun crucial… Substantial growth – especially at plexes – is essential for a healthy total… Fri ₹ 12.06 cr. India biz. #SOTY2 is Tiger’s second highest opener *so far*.”

Tiger Shroff’s highest opener was 2018 released film Baaghi 2 which collected ₹25. 10 crores.
SOTY 2 is being praised for the performance given by Tiger Shroff and not for the unrealistic story and larger than life plot. Tara and Ananya’s debut is weaker than expected and they fail to make a mark on audiences’ mind for long.
As it was the sequel of SOTY catchy music were expected like Radha, Vele, The Disco Song, Ishq Wala Love but it failed to create that charm and the music was very average.
